Today marks our last week together for Cycle 3 of Surrender 2012. My how the time has flown; I hate to see it end. But as one season ends another begins and I know that God has great things in store for you!
Our theme this cycle has been “Who’s Building Your House?” The scriptural reference comes from Psalm 127:1 which reads, “Unless the Lord builds a house, he works in vain who builds it.”
This week we are focusing on a very important room in our houses: the room that houses our Integrity.
What is integrity? Dr. Martin Luther King said it this way, “The strength of a man’s character is revealed in how he acts when no one else is looking.” That strength that he is referring to is your integrity. Character is who people say you are based on what they see from the outside, but integrity is who you are (really) on the inside.
God says it this way, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (I Samuel 16:7).
What does God see when He looks at your heart? A person upright like Job, or someone “playing” church like Saul. God’s not interested in nor impressed by our titles. Saul was the king of Israel, but when he repeatedly sinned against God due to his lack of integrity, God regretted that he had ever made him.
Don’t let God regret that He made you. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that what is done in the dark will come to light. Therefore, chose to live a life of integrity even when no one is looking.
On Monday’s call I shared my embarrassing story of being arrested in college for stealing although I had a pristine reputation for being a goody-goody. Check it out: 213-493-0806, access code: 994553#. Or join us live at 7:00am (EST) at 213-493-0800 with the same access code.
