Who are you for real?
Most people define themselves by their roles–I am a father, mother, sister, and wife. Or even their accomplishments–I have X amount of degrees, I am CEO of X company, etc. However, those temporal, ever-changing roles and accomplishments aren’t who you are.
So who are you really?
One thing is for sure. God is very clear on who He is. He’s the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last. The great I AM.
So if He being our heavenly Father is clear on His identity, shouldn’t we as His children be clear on ours?
Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is. You are made of 3 parts: mind, body, and spirit. And the real you is your spirit. Therefore, as a spiritual being, your identity is how do I show up in the world.
Do I show up as a natural being having a spiritual experience or a spiritual being have a natural experience? I pray it’s the latter.
Sometimes I am challenged by my identity. Sometimes I forget that I am victorious in Christ and play the victim. A victim is someone who feels powerless and unable to take appropriate actions to resolve a problem. Being powerless is a learned behavior but because “I Was Born for This” I am going to unlearn wrong beliefs and move forward.
From this day forward my identity will be rooted in God. God says I am the victor, not the victim. I am the head and not the tail and that all things are working for my good!
The same is true for you. So know who you are and whose you are and live like the victor you were created to be.
With God all things are possible,
