Confessions of a Late Night Eater

Beloved, I pray that you
may prosper in every way and
(that your body) may keep well,
even as (I know) your soul
keeps well and prospers
3 John 1:2
Good Health
Hey Guys!
So last night I had pizza and wings for dinner (Yum!). It was so good but it was a late dinner so after sleeping for a bit, I awoke realizing that my body wasn’t feeling quite right. I was super hot and sweaty.

It didn’t take me long to realize that this was the effects of the “yummy dinner” I had consumed a few hours back; my body was rejecting all the grease and spiciness it had just ingested.

This wasn’t the first time that had happened, and I realized that it wouldn’t be the last time if I didn’t change my diet for good.
Like me, are you also experiencing a deep love affair with rich, fatty foods, or just food in general? I know that certain foods I put in my mouth are no good for me, but because it taste good, I think that justifies my eating it.

I truly believe that God is calling me and maybe even you to a healthier lifestyle. Sometimes I think I’m doing so good and then, BAM!!!! I fall off the bandwagon.

Well, today I’m determined to get healthy once and for all. I know that I can’t do it in my own strength; I know that I may make some mistakes along the way, but I know God can do all things and with a renewed mind, I will be changed.

I’m believing that there is a tailor-made healthy regiment for me, and I’m praying and asking God to walk me through it. It may not look like Dr. Owens regiment–who is on a raw food diet–but I’m believing it will be what is best for my body.

One thing I’ve decided that I would not do is compare my health journey to someone else’s  journey, but I will be consistent in the things God gives me to do along the way.

I’ve decided that a good start would be to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into my diet.Eating fresh fruits and vegetables is the healthiest way to optimize your source of nourishment. In the age of pesticides and injected hormones it is now imperative that we not only eat a well balanced diet, but that we really look into the foods that we are in-taking, and making sure that we receive the best nutrients from the foods that we purchase.
So with that, I’ve decided to revisit EWG’s website to get the best possible start. Here’s a list of foods compiled by the Environmental Working Group (EWG), with the highest pesticide residue, and the ones that are most contaminated vs. the ones that are not. You may be surprised.

The Dirty Dozen Plus
  • Peaches
  • Apples
  • Sweet Bell Peppers
  • Celery
  • Nectarines
  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Pears
  • Grapes (Imported)
  • Spinach
  • Lettuce
  • Potatoes
+Hot Peppers
+Kale/Collard Greens

The Clean Fifteen
  • Onions
  • Avocado
  • Sweet Corn (Frozen)
  • Pineapples
  • Mango
  • Asparagus
  • Sweet Peas (Frozen)
  • Kiwi Fruit
  • Bananas
  • Cabbage
  • Broccoli
  • Papaya
  • Eggplant
  • Grapefruit
  • Cauliflower
Be sure to note that the ones that are most contaminated can be purchased organically. Hope this list is of help to someone and if there are others that you know of that should be on the list of contaminated, be sure to let me know.

I’m excited about starting this journey because I know that I need to for the sake of my husband, child and self. I want to be around for awhile, and I don’t want health issues getting in the way of living life to the fullest!

It’s God’s will that we be in optimum health; so let’s just take it one day at time. Are you with me!

Here’s to you health!!!
