Information is a source of learning.
But unless it is organized, processed, and
available to the right people in a format for decision making,
it is a burden, not a benefit.
In today’s world it seems like the general consensus is “the quicker the better.” Fast food chains are on a rise. Instead of fast food every now and again, we’re deciding on which would be the healthiest to eat for tonight. Most every restaurant you ride pass after 5pm is packed; leaving household kitchens empty.
Food for Thought: If the restaurants are packed and you find yourself waiting, would it me more advantageous to put something together at home? You could save money, time, as well as possibly prevent illness/food poisoning that can come from under cook food (due to the rush rush mentality).
So if you are going to cook at home you will need to grocery shop. In the grocery stores you see lots of people shopping inside versus outside the perimeter of the store. Then you have people like me, who do a little of both.
Yes, I know it’s much better to stay on the outskirts, but sometimes my wallet says otherwise and I have to venture inside. But the inside is where label reading is necessary and can be sometimes intimidating.
Although you may not understand every ingredient, here’s a list of food ingredients you should never eat. In other words, Avoid, Avoid, Avoid!!!
Aspartame: Is an artificial or chemical sweetener, used as a substitute for sugar in some foods and beverages.
It is loaded with phenylalanine
, which is naturally found in the breast milk of mammals. Phenylalanine in high doses is a neurotoxin, (substances that are poisonous or destructive to nerve tissue) which several scientist believe can alter brain function, cause changes of behavior in adults and even retardation in the growing fetus of the mom. Side effects of this chemical can include, headaches, seizures, menstrual problems and gastro-intestinal distress.

BHA and BHT:
Is a food additive and preservative. These two chemicals helps to prevent oil-containing foods from becoming unpleasant or repulsive. Now that seems nice enough; but here’s the real; they’re known carcinogens
(is any substance, radionuclide
that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer.) Having already caused cancer in lab rats, mice and hamsters.

Food Coloring: Created to make food more appealing. Here’s the flip side. Red dye number 3 plays a role with tumor development. Red dye 40 and Yellow 6 plays a close role with aggressive behaviors and impulse control problems in children. Thanks to caramel coloring manufacturing.

I am urging you to click the links above to educate you and your family on these harmful substances. They should be avoided at all cost.
It’s time for us to get back into the kitchen and rage a war against the trend of processed food and fast food. Are you with me?!
