Are You Getting Enough Potassium?

Hey Guys,

During pregnancy it was such a joy carrying my son. Making sure that he was healthy was the most important thing to me.

I did everything I was suppose to do to ensure a safe and healthy delivery which included prayer. Thankfully my son came into this world bright-eyed, beautiful, strong and healthy.

Ironically, I had done so much to care for him, but neglected myself. About a month or so after his birthed I began to experience bouts of numbness in my legs. In fact, I was waking up every night unable to sleep due to the tingling in my legs.

So I set up and appointment with my gynecologist who informed me that my body had been depleted of potassium. Because our bodies don’t automatically store it, I found out that I would have to get the foods needed to ensure that my body had an adequate amount of potassium to operate at its optimum best so that I could say “bye-bye” to sleepless nights.

FYI. It’s very important that we get at least 4.7 grams of potassium daily or 5.1 grams if you’re breastfeeding.

Getting enough potassium can also be beneficial in lowering blood pressure, reducing your risk of stroke and possibly heart disease.

Here are some ways to ensure that you are getting sufficient amounts of potassium.

–Eat Fruits such as bananas, kiwi, melons, peaches, pears or dry fruits including dates, figs, prunes, raisins and apricots.
–Eat Vegetables such as sweet potatoes, potatoes, winter squash, and zucchini.
–Eat Meats like chicken and turkey will guarantee that your body is equipped with the potassium it needs to thrive.

If you’re experiencing stiffness or numbness in your muscles, it may be due to a lack of potassium. Check with your physician. And if that is the case, eat up and you’ll instantly feel the weight of your muscles becoming lighter. It worked for me!
