Hey Neighbor!

Happy Thursday!!!

Hello Neighbor, I hope all is well in your week so far.

So I’m a huge fan of HDTV. I practically watch it everyday. From House Hunters, and Love It or List It, to the Property Brothers and Fixer Upper who could ask for more in a channel.

But one thing I’ve noticed across the board is that for the most part people want to be as far away from their neighbors as possible.

At first I didn’t even pay that much attention, being an introvert, but after a while it dawned on me that no one wanted to be near their neighbor.

Could it be that the only people stand-offish people appear on these shows or has the whole world suddenly become introverted?

Probably not. The more likely reason is that this society is grooming us to be so self involved that we can’t be bothered by what is directly in front of us.

Are we of this world?

Ask yourself these questions.

Do you prefer to text instead of call? If you do call are you hoping it goes to voicemail?

You have over a 1000 friends on Facebook, but when you see one of them in person do you talk to them or do you just keep it moving because you really don’t know them outside of their daily post?

Do you accumulate all these social media outlets, like Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, Periscope etc., to stay connected from a distance?

Do you want to know what’s happening in the life of someone else without knowing what’s really going on with that individual?

In other words do you want to be nosey without getting involved?

I’m clearly guilty of some of these myself. I’m always in that just   mode.

I had gotten so bad that even when my husband wanted something to eat I would say can’t you do it, and end it with Just

I was totally wrong for that. I wasn’t showing the love of God at all.

I knew if I continued down that path, I would be no good to God, or my husband, not to mention my neighbor.

The Bible says,

And that’s not just the person that lives next door to you, although I could really use some work even in that area. If you’re feeling the same way, then just start there.

But in order for us to fully love our neighbor we must learn to love

With everything that is happening in today’s world it may seem hard to live Mark 12:31.

The Book of Matthew even says,

Wait, don’t stop there, because right after that if says,

So, we have to love on purpose. It may not always be easy but we have to be the light in darkness. (Matthew 5:14-16)

So, let’s get started together!
