Good News Thursday!!!

To listen to this weeks song for meditation, Click on Jesus Is The Reason For The Season – Kirk Franklin

“Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree”

“Deck the halls with boughs of holly”

“Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus”

I’m pretty sure that just about everywhere you go you’re hearing Christmas songs, hymns, hums, and jingles.

The excitement is truly in the air.

Things to do, parties to attend, plays to go to, gifts to buy and NOG to drink.

Yaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who wouldn’t be excited?

It’s so easy to get caught up in all the holiday hoopla.

I’ve personally been guilty of forgetting the true meaning of Christmas,

by stressing out about gift giving and having the money I needed to get everything done.

It’s so easy to be singing “Jesus is the reason for the season” while wondering if you’re going to get the Christmas bonus you need to pay for this season. Yikes!

If you ever felt like I did,  then here are some ways to keep your mind on the true meaning of Christmas.

As Jesus was given three gifts, a good idea would be to give three gifts that has no monetary value but lots of meaning.

Give God a special Gift:

This is a gift that would be just between you and God.

Maybe it will be the gift of forgiveness. Forgiving someone that you’ve found it impossible to forgive is a great way to start off your new year as well as giving a gift to yourself.

It May be a commitment to spend time with Him each day before doing anything else.

It may be to simply say “Thank You for sending your Son.” each morning in honor of this time of the year.

Or maybe God is asking you to give up something that you haven’t given to Him yet. Now would be as good of time as any.

The Gift of Story Time:

Set a special time to read the Christmas Story.

Note: I’m not talking about the Christmas Story movie that comes on every year for 24 hrs, I’m talking about the story in the bible.

If you have kids, make it story time and allow them to ask questions. Luke 1:5-56 through 2:1-20.

The Gift of Song:

Set a date to take a small group to a nursing home or to a children’s hospital for some caroling time.

Surprise each Family member with a Gift of Service:

This is a way to show Christlike love. you may want to……

Give your Spouse an unexpected back massage or foot rub. (make it special.)

Run an errand.

Cook a special meal that you know your spouse would love.

Bake cookies with the kids.

Clean up a room for a loved one.

However you decide to remember the gift that God has given and the true meaning of Christmas,

do it with lots of love and intention.
