Super Healthy Ways Celery Contributes to Your Overall Health

Image result for National celery month

Happy Monday!!!

In honor of National Celery Month, I thought I would re-post a recent post I wrote about the beauty of Celery!

Whether it’s Game Day, a simple party or group meeting; what is almost always on the menu? Wings!celery-juice

Yum! You open up the box going for a drumstick, a flat, or both. But what is usually always overlooked and discarded? The celery!

In fact, it’s been so ignored, that it has been replaced by carrots. Crickets!!! I know it just dawned on you that there used to be celery in the box.

Well break out that peanut butter we talked about on last week, because after you read of the health benefits of celery, you may conclude you’ve found the perfect companion for your peanut butter. Continue reading

Faith — the Road to Recovery

Happy Thursday!!!
So, this week I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m on the road to recovery. Recovery from what you ask?

Discouragement, Disbelief, and Hopelessness. In other words a lack of faith.

This is unusual as it seems I was born for faith. Ever since I could remember I was believing for something.

I would believe for the smallest things like a trip to an amusement park, even though my mother already informed me we didn’t have the money to go. To the biggest things like winning the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes which was worth 15 million dollars at the time. Well, the latter didn’t come to past, but you still couldn’t convince me that my faith was useless. I still believed God could do the impossible. Continue reading

A One On One With God

Happy Thursday!!!

About two days ago I was sitting on my bed and my husband came into the room and asked did I know how exciting it is to know that we have access to God at anytime we desire?

As he begin to expound upon that question I could feel the excitement building in my spirit.

Like me, sometimes in your walk with God you may come to a place of familiarity, where everything becomes habitual. You know…upon waking you thank God for another day (if you remember), and go about business as usual. Sometimes your day may include attending church or doing some other Christian ritual. You eat in between and start it all over again.

Then along comes a song, a word, or in my case a question and instantly my interest is peaked. What?! I have access to God at anytime?! Continue reading

The Summer Digestion Plan

Summer is the annual permission slip to be lazy.
To do nothing and have itcount for something.
To lie in the grass and count the stars.
To sit on a branch and study the clouds.

Confessions of a (Married) Night Owl

Happy Thursday!!!

So I have a confession to make…I’m a night owl.

Personally I had always been fine with that. I’d stay up into the wee hours of the morning watching movies and then sleep until noon, sometimes 1pm. Upon awakening I would lounge in the bed, eventually get something to eat, do what I needed to do then start the same routine all over again. Ahh the life! Or so I thought.

Fast forward to 2008. God blessed me to marry one of the greatest men in the world. He’s everything I never knew wanted. I say this because I hadn’t planned on being married, but thank God that He sees and knows what is best for us, even when we think we got it all together.
Again he’s a great husband and father. He’s as handsome as can be and he loves the Lord with his whole being. The only issue I have with him is that he’s…a morning person. Ugh!!!!
Yes, he wakes up, opens every blind and even sings and plays music on some mornings. In fact there are times he will start his own personal worship service just three feet away from the bed. It can be a nightmare.

Are You Getting Enough Potassium?

Hey Guys,

During pregnancy it was such a joy carrying my son. Making sure that he was healthy was the most important thing to me.

I did everything I was suppose to do to ensure a safe and healthy delivery which included prayer. Thankfully my son came into this world bright-eyed, beautiful, strong and healthy.

Ironically, I had done so much to care for him, but neglected myself. About a month or so after his birthed I began to experience bouts of numbness in my legs. In fact, I was waking up every night unable to sleep due to the tingling in my legs.

The Many Benefits of Lemon Water

If Life Gives You
Lemons
Keep Them
because hey, free lemons!
lemons
Hey Guys!

Open you’re refrigerator and pull out that little, yellow, zesty fruit that go by the name of lemon and let’s get ready to rumble….for the improvement of your health that is.

Lemons are loaded with Vitamin C, which helps to build the immune system which can prevent illnesses such as the flu and cold.

Drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning is something you should consider doing as it helps to clean the liver by flushing out unwanted toxins.

Lemons also helps the body to maintain its pH balance and maintain digestion by encouraging the production of bile.

And that’s just the beginning. Let’s take a closer look at this oval shape fruit… Continue reading

One Sure-Fire Tactic for Relieving Pain

We must develop and maintain
the capacity to forgive. He who
is devoid of the power to
forgive is devoid of the power
to love. There is some good in
the worst of us and some evil
in the best of us. When we
discover this, we are less
prone to hate our enemies.
Martin Luther King Jr.
contentment

FORGIVENESS can look and sometimes be an overwhelmingly hard thing to do. Especially the kind that has festered for weeks, months, or years.

To forgive or not to forgive can feel like an emotional roller coaster ride. On one hand you feel like I have a right to be upset and then on the other you know it’s not always worth the time and energy it takes to maintain that level of anger against someone.

As I was watched Dr. Owens minister about the importance of health Tuesday night at The First Baptist Church of Glenarden, she made a profound statement. She said that sickness could be a product of unforgiveness. WOW! That was truly one of those statements that stops you in your tracks and causes you to meditate; a “Selah” moment indeed. Confessions of a Late Night Eater

Beloved, I pray that you
may prosper in every way and
(that your body) may keep well,
even as (I know) your soul
keeps well and prospers
3 John 1:2
Good Health
Hey Guys!
So last night I had pizza and wings for dinner (Yum!). It was so good but it was a late dinner so after sleeping for a bit, I awoke realizing that my body wasn’t feeling quite right. I was super hot and sweaty.

It didn’t take me long to realize that this was the effects of the “yummy dinner” I had consumed a few hours back; my body was rejecting all the grease and spiciness it had just ingested.

This wasn’t the first time that had happened, and I realized that it wouldn’t be the last time if I didn’t change my diet for good. Continue reading
